Monthly Archives: December 2016

It was the perfect morning, bright and early as I woke up to go shoot one of my favorite type of sessions: a golden sunrise family portrait session for some of my most favorite people!  It was even a little chilly and crisp and it just felt like fall (as much as fall can feel in Florida).

We were supposed to meet next to “the field”, this field that I had been eyeing since we moved here to Celebration, back in April.  I waited for a few minutes before texting Ashleigh and just sat staring out as the sun began to rise!  Ashleigh and Lars were on their way with kiddo’s, but it had already been a morning!  You know those mornings… the type where you have one plan and then “the stuff” hits the fan (literally in this case) and before you know it you are already off in a totally different direction!

I giggled as I read Ashleigh’s texts and was in awe that not only when they made it to the field in perfect timing,  but they all looked phenomenal, little Lars even had jeans on which is the first I have ever seen!

That’s probably one of the reasons why I just love Ashleigh and Lars so much.  They are the most down to earth, go with the flow and roll with it kind of parents and friends!  They live life on their own terms and they embrace just about everything that comes their way.  They lead with their hearts and are able to laugh at life along and beside their little ones!

Little L is about to turn 4 and he is in the most curious, sassy, yet to his own personality laid back stage of his game right now.  He has the sweetest little heart and love for his parents and he’s working on becoming the best big brother this side of Florida!  Little L has a quiet sense about him and that’s why I think he and my Linc get along so well.  He is the slow motion to Linc’s sped up, rambunctious version of how life should be challenged daily!  When they get together it’s nothing but laughter and mischief but the sweetest kind that you just can’t help but shake your head and turn it the other way!

We spent the morning exploring the field together!  We chatted about trains, which are little L’s favorite and we made some pretty loud train sounds around 7 am!  Little L makes the absolute best train sounds and I can’t help myself but want to hear them every time we get together!

It was a beautiful and golden morning that we were able to capture together;   but more importantly it was a morning that my friends could come together as a family and those minutes would be forever frozen in time!

Happy Monday mamas!  As I sit here on Sunday night (yes.. for real I am blogging on a Sunday night and I consider that a big win in my book) I realize that the weekends fly by us all too fast , especially with little ones!  It’s a little crazy and a little sad which is why recently I’ve really been focusing on what I am truly thankful and even more so during this time of holiday season.  It’s easy to find ourselves getting caught up in day to day matters when you have so much on your plate on the normal scheduled daily basis;  but when you add in the hustle and bustle of the wonderful holiday season and especially the one that is upon us at the moment our days tend to get downright overwhelming sometimes.  I find myself lost in the items that need to be checked off the “to do list” or the oh my gosh we have only 3 more Friday’s until the BIG DAY, we have got to get moving on some very important items if you know what I mean stress busters, and I forget to savor the moments that I should actually be on my knees thankful for and appreciate.

That’s why for my Motherhood Monday Instagram question I wanted to ask all my fellow mamas out there what it is that YOU are most thankful for this holiday season?  I wanted us to all take a moment, stop what we are doing, breathe, and then truly search out what it is about our every day lives that just stops us in our tracks because it is that amazing (and yet at the same time not remarkable at all).  We all have many moments or things in our lives that fit just that description.  What is it in your life right now that you have everyday or have as a regular part of your life that you are just thankful for during this holiday season especially!

Right now in this moment I think I’m most thankful for the moments that actually do drive me crazy, does that sound so weird?  I’m thankful for the meltdowns and the tantrums and the many time outs that we have been having in our house lately and we have had plenty this weekend alone.  I know that I lose my patience and that I need to use some deep breathing techniques because it would probably help the entire family if I did but it’s in these moments that I find myself this month in particular feeling quite grateful.  Don’t get me wrong, I don’t usually feel this way until way later in the evening when everyone else has gone to bed and I’m finally able to rest my head on the pillow and reflect on the day (and my temper has finally subsided).  I realize though that I’m lucky that I get to have these moments!  I’m so lucky and I’m so blessed!  Linc is happy and healthy and we are happy and healthy as a family.  I’m blessed and thankful that we are all together this holiday season and that we are experiencing a relatively normal 4 year old season!  I know that years from now I will look back on these days and laugh at my short tempered mishaps and I will wish for these days back once again!  I’m thankful that for these moments that are flying by all too quickly, I get to have them at all in the first place!

So my mama friends… what is it that you are thankful for this holiday season?  And are you too experiencing the holiday drama that we are experiencing here at our house?  I do hear that it’s the time of year where all the little ones are pretty revved up, but are you also experiencing a lot of time outs and sassitude?!

I first came to this amazing town of Celebration when I was visiting my childhood friend Emily a long long time ago!  One of the very first friends she introduced me to was Rose and I will never ever forget that night!  We sat at the Bohemian, ate a delicious dinner and the three of us chatted for hours!  I immediately felt connected to Rose, I mean who doesn’t?!  She is this truly incredible woman that in that very first instant of meeting her she fills your heart and creates a space there with a lasting impression that leaves you knowing you will never ever be the same! Rose is the kind of person that will always have a space in everyone’s heart because she is just wonderfully genuine and heart warming!  Now that you know how special she is, you can’t imagine my excitement when Rose started to chat about taking some holiday family portraits!  I couldn’t wait to get her stunning family in front of my camera!  We knew we wanted something that was in town and we wanted something simple and laid back for their Holiday portrait session.  Rose suggested this little spot that was near and dear to her heart and from there it was just one big music filled play time for all of us.

Rose and Chris have the best relationship with their kiddo’s Addy and Ryan!  I love how they all interact together and are able to laugh and joke with one another!  I also love how much Addy and Ryan support one another!  Addy and Ryan were also so great at helping me direct the session.  They had the best ideas and were incredibly creative with on what we should do next or how we should sit or stand! I definitely see a future for both of them if they ever want one as my second shooter or artistic director one day!

Here are some of my favorite images from Rose and the family’s holiday family portraits!  I had to keep some of my most favorite images a secret still since it is holiday card season… but don’t worry, I’m sure some of you will be seeing those very soon!

Thank you so much Rose and Chris for letting me be a part of your family for an hour! Thank you for trusting me with these incredibly precious moments and for singing along with me (or rather putting up with my horrible voice and rapping skills) to some pretty awesome pop songs.. MY HOUSE!!! Thank Ryan and Addy for that too because I’m pretty sure I might have traumatized them 😉

I love you guys!!
