Every child has their own magic…. and when they play,  that magic has a way of sparking about and casting a beautifully intricate spell over everything in the room; if we only allow ourselves to see it and to believe it as much our children do!  This magic… it is beautifully and wonderfully amazing!  It’s the stuff that dreams are born from and it lives deep within our hearts!  It begs the question that most of us are afraid to ask ourselves or to even remember when we grow up… what is it that we truly wish we could be if we let go of ourselves and break ourselves wide open (mind, heart and soul)??  Do you know that answer?

This kind of magic… this is the magic that stirs my heart!  This is the kind of magic that I believe is truly real and I mean really real and authentic… of childhood!

We planned this session for months and months, but the timing had never been quite right, and I’m a big believer in timing!  Magic has a way with timing as well… just ask Cinderella’s Fairy Godmother!  October wasn’t the right month… not for my heart and not for these sessions to begin and well… I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening to start this type of session than what happened on the night we started with Sadie’s Mermaid When I Dream Session!

Magic comes together when we least expect it! Disney tells us that when wish upon a star or when we truly believe with all our heart, then our dreams will come true!  I have to agree with everything in me with Disney on this one!  Magic absolutely happened on the beach that evening as we set out on a whim and Emily (Sadie’s mama) and I watched as everything came together and sassy Sadie transformed into this magical and beautiful mermaid right before our eyes!  I had been planning for months and months and I had all these ideas and grande notions for styling and effects but honestly what came together was nothing more than simple and balanced and that is Sadie!  It couldn’t have been more authentic and perfect if I had planned it anymore.  I realized at that moment when I saw her glide along the beach just like a real mermaid, that was the point… planning isn’t everything.. not for this girl!  Sadie is spontaneous and the small touches we had were the perfect hint of magic that she needed!

Sadie was the little mermaid from the second that fin went on!  She stole me away and that magic I spoke of earlier… it cast a spell over me as we played sea witch and mermaid… together on the beach that night!

I love how this girl can rock her tail!!!

I am so thankful to Emily and to Sadie for letting me come in to this special world of theirs and for sharing their dreams with me! Thank you for letting me spend such a magical and FUN evening with you girls! I hope that you cherish these images as much as I do! Hold on to this magic for as long as you can and even when it starts to slip away… look back at these images and remember what it was like to BE a mermaid (a real one!!!) for even just an evening!
