Every time I walk away from a session, I always walk away with a huge appreciation for my own little family!  I love watching my clients have fun and play together.  I love watching them laugh and truly enjoy each other with no other plans or lists or to do’s.  It’s pure quality time and my main focus is always to let the kids shine and be themselves!  I love celebrating those families for who they are and where they are right now in whatever stage they are in!

What my clients don’t realize is that I’m walking away with a huge gift that they have given me!  It’s truly a gift that these amazing families trust me with these incredible moments!  It’s also a gift that I get to catch a glimpse at how amazing and unique each and every family unit really is.

I leave every single time with a huge appreciation for my own little family!

I would have never had the courage to pursue photography in this way if it weren’t for Tuck’s encouragement and 100 percent belief that this is what I was made to do.  I still wouldn’t be doing it if it weren’t for his help and partnership every day on the business side and dedication to our family!

His faith in me is what keeps my passion going!

Linc is my inspiration.  I have always loved working with children and families but it wasn’t until I became a mother myself that I realized my passion truly lies in this one area:  a specialized children and family photographer.

Linc is crazy and goofy and spontaneous!  I want to capture every single second of his spunky personality because it changes so much every day!

Linc loves when I come home from my sessions the next morning and break out the “big camera!”  He loves to see the kiddos and he knows each of my clients by name (he remembers them too.)  He is my inspiration for the Lifetime Experience!

I love hearing him say… “mama I want to see Waverly… mama I want to see Gavin!”  These clients turn into friends and playmates!

I think when you are a small business owner, it honestly becomes a labor of love for the whole family!  There is no way I could do what I do without either one of my boys!  There are my driving force, my inspiration and at the heart of all I do.

My clients are included in my family!  For those of you that have worked with me, you know you can’t just show up to a session without a hug or some kind of invasion of personal space.  You know when you leave… (at least I hope this is the case because it is for me) you leave feeling less like a client and more like a friend (a close one).  You see, you aren’t just a client to me anymore,  you are a part of my family tree now.

So Thank YOU to my family!  Thank you to my boys for all you do!  Thank you to my clients for being who you are!

THANK YOU!

These two… there just aren’t words to describe how kind of amazing they are OR how fun they are.  There are also aren’t many times that I can’t find the words to describe how I felt or what I’m thinking, so you know if I can’t exactly put my thoughts down or explain things well enough to be understood… it must have been pretty epic!

Epic, I guess is the best word to really start with!  I knew during all those Pelon’s taco dates when I would sit with Lauren and talk about her wedding and the sessions we could plan in between that we would end up with a trash the dress. She wasn’t quite sure (so many options and session to chose from these days now) but Lauren and Sean are never without sandy toes and at least a quick peek or walk down on the beach!

The ocean is truly where these two live and breath!  I think the salt ocean water runs in their veins and I’m convinced if they ever stray to far from this ocean it would call them back home in a fierce way!

I pitched an idea to Lauren:  one I had been thinking about and honestly was just dying to do for them!  What I really needed though was a little bit luck and mother nature to be on our side!

We truly couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening!  I met Lauren and Sean at their house (which happens to be about a block from the ocean at one of the best little surf’s spots near us) and I knew right then and there this was going to be pretty amazing.

The water was gorgeous and lucky us, we actually had some fun little waves here in Virginia Beach!  Lauren and Sean brought their surf boards and we headed down to a nice little patch on the sand!

I wish I could express to you in words or write the story of this evening for you the way that I usually love to do.  I just don’t have them for that night!

There weren’t much words exchanged between us!  There was a lot of laughter that night!  There were a lot of very touching moments that night.  There were moments that warmed your heart and moments that kind of set it on fire a bit.  There were also moments that make you realize life is so super short and you just have to enjoy every second no matter what!

All I know is that I think we all came away soaked… and with that one word running through our minds!  That was pretty epic!

I do know that I came home that night and realized how truly amazing marriage is and how lucky we are when we find that person we can love and laugh with no matter how beautiful life is or how crazy life is.

That’s kind of what this trash the dress was all about:  Life is a huge adventure!  Marriage is a huge adventure!  It can be beautiful and perfect.  It can be flawless and seamless one minute and then the next something so beautiful can be completely taken for the wildest ride!  It’s just like that wedding dress:  perfection on the day of the wedding… from there the adventure goes where the beholder allows it!

Karen Mirynowski - Absolutely LOVE this!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Lauren has basically been a third daughter to me for a long time!! I wish for nothing but a lifetime of happiness for them!!!!ReplyCancel

It’s been a crazy time for us!  We’ve been traveling, hanging out with friends and I’ve been working like crazy!

I always say I will keep up with my blogging and schedule posts and pre-blog… but let’s just be honest:  I’m kind of horrible at that!

The time just gets away from me and I slack.  I realize I have to pack (and then re-pack because I like to think I can fit all my stuff into the small bag but I can’t… I’m THAT girl!).  I realize I have to clean (because I’m OCD now that I’ve had Linc, that nesting bug never did really leave.)    I realize I need to finish up a session before I hop in the car because I can’t edit on my laptop anymore because I’m spoiled now with the big screen (plus I get car sick trying to do it in the car).

Excuses I know, but still….it’s my truth!

We’ve been having some fun though and while my big professional camera has been hard at work taking pictures of some pretty amazing people;  my iphone has been pretty busy taking pictures of our little family!

Here’s what we’ve been up to lately according to our insta and i phones!

Sometimes it feels like life is just happening soo soo fast but I’m super grateful that we do have phones that allows us to capture those small moments!  Love my big camera but grateful I have the one that’s usually always in a pocket or a purse!
